  1. Select Structural Tab > Handrails by Sketch Command to activate the Place Handrail by Sketch Controls.

  2. Select the handrail to place from the catalog.

  3. Select a parent system for the handrail.

  4. Select Sketching Sketch Path to define the path for the handrail using the Sketching Controls.

  5. Sketch the path.

  6. Select Accept Com_Checkmark on the Sketching controls.

  7. Select Navigate Backward to activate the Place Handrail by Sketch Controls.

  8. In the graphic view, select on the walking surface side of the path.

  9. Optionally, select Convert to Members.

You should convert a handrail when you want to edit the positions of individual posts, rails, or perform some other handrail customization that cannot be done using the handrail symbol properties. Handrails that you have converted to member parts cannot be converted back to a handrail symbol. To delete a converted handrail, you will need to delete each handrail part individually.

  10. Complete the placement:

    • Select Finish or press CTRL + ENTER to save your changes and exit the command.

    • Select Finish and Modify Finish Modify ICON or press CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER to save your changes, and then start the modification of that object.

    • Select Finish and Repeat Finish Repeat ICON or press SHIFT + ENTER to save your changes, and then restart the command using the same options.
