General
Catalog Part
Specifies the identifier (such as a part number or class) associated with the object to place. Recently used items are available in the list.
Browse Catalog
Displays the catalog associated with your model. Move through the hierarchy to find the objects you need or type the name of the object in the Search box. See Select from Catalog Dialog.
Parent System
Specifies the parent system for the object. Recently used systems that are appropriate to assign as the parent system for this object display in the list along with the Select from Workspace and Select from Model options. The most recently used system displays at the top.
The parent system of the object must have an Approval Status of Working before you can change the Parent System value. If the Approval Status of the parent system is not set to Working, this value is read-only.
Select Interactively
Turns on or off the interactive selection. When this option is on, you can select the parent object in a graphic view or any of the explorers.
Select from Workspace
Displays the Select Parent System Dialog with the Workspace tab open. The workspace is the subset of the active model database you specified when you started your design session. Navigate the hierarchy to select the parent system, and then select OK.
Select from Model
Displays the Select Parent System Dialog with the Model tab open. The model is all the objects in the active model database, including those that are not part of your workspace. Navigate the hierarchy to select the parent system, and then select OK.
Name
Specifies the name of the selected object. If the name is too long to entirely display in the box, point to the box to display the complete name as a tool tip. If the name is not defined by a rule, User Defined displays. If this name is generated by a naming rule, TagName Rule displays. If you enter a name in this box, Smart 3Dx automatically changes the naming rule to User Defined.
Begin Treatment
Specifies a circular (1), rectangular (2), or none (3) end treatment for the beginning of the handrail.
End Treatment
Specifies a circular (1), rectangular (2), or none (3) end treatment for the end of the handrail.
Sketching
Opens the Sketching Controls that you can use to sketch the handrail path.
Select Walking Side
Specify the walking side by clicking in the graphic view. The software uses the point to know on which side of the member to place the handrail and to calculate the toe-plate and railing height. Press CTRL when clicking to specify the opposite side of the member as the walking side.
Convert to Members
Decomposes the handrail symbol to individual structural members for each post and rail. You should convert a handrail when you want to add, edit, or delete the positions of individual posts, rails, or perform some other handrail customization that cannot be done using the handrail symbol properties. The handrail object becomes the system parent of the individual members. The handrail object deletes the children members. Handrails that you have converted to member parts cannot be converted back to a handrail symbol.
