You use design elements to add notes, remarks, and other information to your drawing. Design elements include everything from messages to components to geometric shapes.
Selection ribbon
To assist you in placing the design element, the software displays a ribbon along the top of the Graphics window. The type of design element that you are adding to the pipeline determines the appearance and content of the Selection ribbon. For example, if you are placing an annotation, such as a message, the software displays a Selection ribbon that enables you to specify the type of message to place, as well as any associated text that is to display in the drawing.
When you place design elements, such as supports, couplings, and bolts, the software requires that you select an appropriate material for the object being placed. After you select the Place command, the software automatically displays the Selection ribbon.
You can specify the material to use in one of three ways:

If you know the item code for the material, you can type it in the Item Code box. If the item code exists in the Material database, the software displays the appropriate description in the Description box.

If you know only a portion of the item code, type one or more characters in the Item Code box, and then select
. The software displays a list of matching item codes in the Select new material dialog box from which to select.

To view the item codes that are currently in the Material database, leave the Item Code box empty, and then select
. The software displays all the available item codes so that you can select the appropriate
one.
After you place a design element, the software remains in placement mode so that you can continue to place additional like elements. To cancel placement mode:

Select OK
on the Selection ribbon.

Press ESC.

Right-click in the Graphics window and select Cancel.
