Provides a hierarchical view of the entire contents of the active piping file, including attribute information about the pipeline, spool assemblies, components, and other materials that it contains. When you open a file, the Pipeline Explorer shows the pipeline components in run order. You can use Show Spools in Pipeline Explorer to toggle between two different views. In the example, Show Spools in Pipeline Explorer is toggled on, showing the spool assembly and erection item groupings.

When you turn off Show Spools in Pipeline Explorer, the resulting Pipeline Explorer view shows the components in run order minus the spool assembly and erection item groupings.

  • Use View > Pipeline Explorer to turn on and off its display in the software. When the Pipeline Explorer is visible, the software displays a check mark next to the Pipeline Explorer command on the View menu.

  • You can narrow or widen the Pipeline Explorer for better viewing. When you place the pointer on the line that divides the Pipeline Explorer window from the Graphics window, it becomes a two-sided arrow that you can use to drag the dividing line to the left or right.

  • When the Pipeline Explorer window is visible, you can manipulate it so that it is docked, floating, tab-docked, or collapsed. For more information, read Customize interface elements.

  • While working in the Pipeline Explorer, right-click any item in the Components node to access to the same commands as you do when you right-click a pipe or component in the Graphics window.

  • To clear all existing spool names and reallocate the spools, click Tools > Reassign Spool Identifiers. If Show Spools in Pipeline Explorer is toggled on, the software renames the spools using the naming settings defined in I-Configure. For more information about these settings, see Define spool import settings using a drawing style If Show Spools in Pipeline Explorer is toggled off, Isogen reallocates the spools when the drawing is generated.
