  • This section is specific to the SpoolgenDB project. If you are currently logged in to a legacy Spoolgen project, refer to Work with Legacy Spoolgen Projects.

  • The current version of Spoolgen only supports Spoolgen Web API 2 for working with a SpoolgenDB project.

  • Working with SpoolgenDB projects requires a specific computer configuration. See the Intergraph Spoolgen Installation Guide delivered on the Intergraph Spoolgen product media.

  • You use I-Configure to create the SpoolgenDB project. See Create a new SpoolgenDB project in the I-Configure Help.

A SpoolgenDB project is integrated with a relational SQL database back-end. As with the legacy Spoolgen project, you can view details about the pipelines that belong to the SpoolgenDB project. However, SpoolgenDB projects also enable version control and support the check in and check of files for multi-user projects.

Spoolgen Database View window

The Spoolgen Database View window enables you to see all the pipelines in the connected SpoolgenDB project and review the status of each pipeline. To display this window, select Project > Show Project Pipelines. An example of the standard interface is shown below.

1 - Status bar

Displays information about the success or failure of the current operation. An example is shown below.

2 - Toolbar

Provides quick access to commonly used commands. Many of these commands are also available on the Project menu.

In Smart Isometrics, the Project menu is available only if you are logged in to a SpoolgenDB project.

Refresh Grid updates the values of the grid properties to reflect any changes that might have occurred to the SpoolgenDB project pipelines since you initially opened the Spoolgen Database View window.

Deliverables opens the Deliverables window so that you can preview the drawing and report deliverables that Isogen generated for the selected pipeline.

Check In adds the selected pipeline back to the Spoolgen database along with any replay file if one exists. The software updates the minor version of the pipeline.

Check Out copies the selected pipeline from the Spoolgen database to the Work folder along with any replay file if one exists.

Undo Check Out adds the selected pipeline back to the database without saving any of the changes made to it while checked out.

Get External Data runs the Get External Data (GED) function on the selected pipeline.

If the status of the pipeline is Checked In/Pending, the software checks out the file from the database, and then performs GED on the file. If the status of the pipeline is Checked Out, the software performs GED directly on the POD file from the Work folder.

Generate Drawings saves any changes made to the pipeline and produces an isometric drawing. If changes have been made to the pipeline, the software automatically increments the minor version in the project database.

If the status of the pipeline is Checked In/Pending, the software checks out the file, generates the drawings, checks in the file, and then posts the deliverables to the Spoolgen database. If the status of the pipeline is Checked Out, the software generates drawings directly on the POD file that resides in the Work folder, checks in the file, and posts the deliverables to the Spoolgen database.

Delete All Pipelines deletes all the versions of the selected pipeline. There must be no checked out versions of the pipeline.

Delete Latest Pipeline deletes the current version of the selected pipeline. The selected pipeline must not be checked out.

3 - Manage Columns

Opens and closes the Manage Columns panel. This panel enables you to specify which columns display in the Project Pipelines grid. Use the check boxes to include or exclude a column header from the grid.

4 - Project Pipelines grid

Displays details about the pipelines that belong to the SpoolgenDB project. Pipeline details are organized within columns. You can customize the columns that display in Project Pipelines grid using Manage Columns .

5 - Page navigation

Each page in the Spoolgen Database View window can display 1000 pipelines. Use the navigational arrows to move through the available pages.

Selects the first available page.

Selects the previous page. This command moves backward sequentially through the pages.

Selects the next page. This command moves forward sequentially through the pages.

Selects the last available page.

Additional Features

Context menu

Right-click any pipeline in the Spoolgen Database View window to display a context menu. The commands on this menu correspond to the commands that are available on the toolbar and depend on the pipeline status. For example, if a pipeline is currently checked out, the Check Out command is not available.

To use the Delete All Pipelines and Delete Latest Pipeline commands, the selected pipeline must be checked in to the Spoolgen database. Because the pipeline selected in the example below is currently checked out, neither the Delete All Pipelines nor the Delete Latest Pipeline command is available.

Similarly, if a pipeline is currently checked in, the Check In and Undo Check Out commands are not available.

The following example shows multiple pipelines selected with different statuses. As such, the Check In, Check Out, Undo Check Out, Delete All Pipelines, and Delete Latest Pipelines commands are unavailable.

Filtering

You can filter on most header columns in the Project Pipelines grid by clicking the icon. Filtering enables you to control which pipelines display in the grid. For example, you can use the filter to display only those pipelines with a Checked Out status or to display a pipeline with a certain pipeline identifier.
