Spoolgen relies on the symbol redefinitions to be stored in an ASCII symbols file. To display redefined symbols in the pipeline model so that they can be edited, you must use Isogen Configuration in I-Configure to reference the ASCII file in the Spoolgen SGImport style. To output redefined symbols on Spoolgen-generated drawings, you must also use Isogen Configuration to reference the ASCII file in the appropriate project style.

  • Use the Symbol Editor Export ISOGEN Symbols command to generate an ASCII (.asc) symbols file. See Redefine a symbol.

  • For more detailed information about using Isogen Configuration, see the Isogen Configuration Help.

Display Redefined Symbols in the Pipeline Model

  1. Click Start > All Programs > Intergraph Spoolgen > I-Configure.

    I-Configure opens.

  2. Expand the Spoolgen project node in the Project View panel, select SGImport in the list of styles that displays under the selected project, and then click Edit in the Properties panel. Alternatively, right-click SGImport, and then select Edit.

Isogen Configuration opens and displays the Home screen.

  3. Click Input Files on the Drawing Manager panel.

The Configuration view opens and displays the Input Files panel.

  4. Expand Summary, and click Show Collapse ICP.

A grid displays so you can specify input files.

  5. Select ASCII-Symbols in the Type list.

  6. Type the reference to the ASCII symbols file that you generated using Symbol Editor.

  7. Click Hide to close the grid.

  8. Click Save to write the data to the style file.

  9. Click to close Isogen Configuration, and then click File > Exit to close I-Configure.

When you import the piping object data file into Spoolgen, the software reads the redefined symbols file and displays the redefined symbol in the pipeline model.

Output Redefined Symbols on the Isometric Drawing

  1. Click Start > All Programs > Intergraph Spoolgen > I-Configure.

    The I-Configure software opens.

  2. Select the appropriate project and style in the Project View panel.

  3. Click Edit in the Properties panel. Alternatively, right-click the style, and then select Edit.

Isogen Configuration opens and displays the Home screen.

  4. Click Input Files on the Drawing Manager panel.

The Configuration view opens and displays the Input Files panel.

  5. Expand Summary, and click Show Collapse ICP.

A grid displays so that you can specify input files.

  6. Select ASCII-Symbols in the Type list.

  7. Type the reference to the ASCII symbols file that you generated using Symbol Editor.

  8. Click Hide to close the grid.

  9. Click Save to write the data to the style file.

  10. Click to close Isogen Configuration, and then click File > Exit to close I-Configure.

When you generate the drawing in Spoolgen, the software reads the symbols file and displays the redefined symbols on the isometric drawing.
