Add an asset to the j5 Asset Register - j5 - 30 - Help - Hexagon

You can manually add and edit assets on the Asset Register configuration page.

If you want to add and edit multiple assets, refer to Asset Import.

To add an asset:

1. Select Add

2. Enter the asset's details:

   • Name (required) - Enter a name for the asset. It needs to be unique (only one asset can have this name in the register).

   • Description - Enter a description for the asset. Both the Name and Description appear in the IndustraForm asset selector.

   • Parent asset - Select the parent asset for the new asset

   • Asset states - Select an asset state set. For details on how to configure asset states, refer to Asset state sets.

   • Current state - After selecting an asset state set, select the current state for the asset.

   • Barcode/NFC/QR - Enter the barcode, NFC tag, or QR code for the asset. This can be used to quickly navigate to the entries that reference this asset.

   • Latitude and Longitude - Enter the physical location of the asset. These positions are in decimal degrees, positive or negative, and require a minimum of 7 decimal places.

   Use a GPS device to record an accurate location of the asset.

   • Elevation (m) - Enter the elevation of the asset, the WSG84 (default) or EGM96 value, in meters. The maximum elevation allowed is 10,000m.

   The altitude type is changed on the Server settings node in the j5 System Management Console.

   • Sequence Order - Enter an integer in this box. The assets are sorted according to this value when they are displayed in a list.

   • GPS Proximity (m) - Enter the maximum distance from the location of the asset. A user will be considered in range of the asset when they are within this distance from the asset. The maximum distance allowed is 100m.

   The default GPS location accuracy required (fix on GPS location) is 10m. This can be changed on the Server settings node in the j5 System Management Console.

3. Select Save.

Assign an asset to areas

The Asset Areas tab can only be selected after the new asset is saved. To assign an asset to areas:

1. Select the Asset Areas tab.

2. Select Add

3. Select the area information for the asset using the Site, Section, Area, and Unit lists.

4. Select Save

Each asset can be assigned multiple areas. Select Add again to assign more operational areas.

When an asset isn't assigned areas, the asset is available in all the areas regardless of what area filters you apply in the IndustraForm asset selector.
