Pipe work time calculation is used for several pipe manufacturing work phases such as cutting, beveling, fitting-up, and welding. Calculated process time helps customers balance the capacity of their manufacturing processes. The end-user can fine-tune the working time calculation parameters by entering the parameters in the Operational Settings – Pipe Work Load Times UI in System Settings.

The work time calculation for pipe cutting is done in two phases:

  1. The first time Work time estimation is calculated at the pipe part level right after the design data is imported from the Pipe design system.

  2. Work time estimation is re-calculated when pipe parts are nested to get a more accurate estimation.

The most accurate and latest work time estimation will be used in all Smart Production applications.

The Work Time Calculation in System Settings will consider the following production tasks of the pipe manufacturing process.

Pipe cutting and welding process times:

  • Cutting / sawing the Pipe

  • Fit-Up

  • Welding

  • Visual Inspection (can set as constant time)

Additional work times only valid for cutting:

  • Work Instruction

  • Nozzle Handling

  • Material and Scrap Handling

  • Manual Part Marking

  • Part Picking
