Opens the Clipping Manager dialog allowing you to create, edit, and delete clipping records in CloudWorx.

Clipping Manager Dialog

The dialog has two panes. The left is the list of clipping groups. A clipping group is a list of clipping records that are applied together to the point clouds. You can create, delete, or activate a group. At any time there is one group activated. When activated, the clipping records are displayed in the right pane. In the right pane, you can enable or disable a clipping record. You can invert a section view clipping or a fence clipping too. When you click on the name of a clipping group or clipping record twice, it allows you to rename it.

All clipping records are created with following commands:

Clipping Groups - Displays the list of clipping groups. You can select one and activate it using Activate Group.

Clippings - Displays the list of clipping records of the active clipping group. All the clipping records are applied to the point clouds.

Delete Clipping - Deletes the selected clipping record.

Clear Clippings - Deletes all clipping records of the active clipping group.

Enable All - Enables all clipping records of the active clipping group.

Disable All - Disables all clipping records of the active clipping group.

Create Group - Creates a new clipping group. You can click the name twice to rename a group. By creating and activating a new clipping group, the last clipping group is protected. This is because the active clipping group can be easily cleared with a reset clipping command.

Delete Group - Deletes the selected clipping group. You cannot delete the active one.

Activate Group - Activates the selected clipping group. Clipping records are updated.

Modify Limit Box Parameters

  1. Select the Limit Box and right-click to select Modify.

The Limit Box Parameters dialog appears for you to edit.

  2. You can directly change the values (Corner or Size components) and click another edit box to see the effect. You can use the up/down keys near each edit box. Note that the keys have different effects. Up/down key for a corner component moves along its axis direction. Up/down key for a size component enlarges or shrinks along each axis in both directions. The < and > buttons shrinks or enlarges the box in all directions.

The valid range of values is between 0.001 and 1000000.

  3. After making the needed changes, click Apply to save the new changes to the points.

Apply is enabled only when there is a change in the limit box parameters.

  4. Click Cancel to undo the changes. You are prompted for confirmation.

    • Click Yes to undo the change and restore the previous values.

    • Click No to stay on this window.

Delete Limit Box Parameters

  • Select the Limit Box and right-click to select Delete.

If a change in clipping exposes new area that is previously clipped out, you are prompted to regenerate the point clouds. Such change include clearing one or more clipping, moving slice forward or backward, inverting a clipping or changing a limit box. A message is displayed with Don't tell again (for the session). Regenerating point clouds might be required to provide full density in the new area due to clipping change.

You can also switch the clipping scheme using the menu CloudWorx > Clip Point Cloud > Toggle Single LimitBox/Slice.
