Standard Database for Smart Reference Data Version
12.5

The following are the features available in the SDB Merge Tool:

  • Intuitive web-based user interface to select, view, and merge selected data from one SDB database to another SDB database. This is achieved by the automatic identification of the mandatory parent dependencies required for merging the selected data and automatically creating them in the target database.

For example, to add a commodity code in the SDB database, a commodity group, a commodity part, and a commodity rule are the mandatory dependencies. So, if you merge a new commodity code into the database, then the mandatory dependencies will be identified and auto-created in the target database.

  • Using the SDB Merge Tool, data can be merged only from the source to the target database and not vice-versa. Target-only records will not be affected by the merging process if you do not use the Delete and Replace feature.

The Delete and Replace feature is available for a few specific nodes. You can delete target records and merge all SDB data using this feature. For more information, see the Delete and Replace section in Functionalities.

  • You can opt to merge Smart Materials data into the target database. You can toggle between Smart Reference Data merging and Smart Materials merging while signing in.

  • In the Smart Materials merging option, you can merge entire SMAT data from the source to the target database. You can also view the merge progress status on the screen.

  • Using this tool, you can merge data from an SDB database to a Non-SDB database. A database that is not created using an SDB seed catalog is a Non-SDB database.

  • In the Smart Reference Data merge option, you are provided with the Show differences in hierarchy mode. In this mode, you can apply data filters to the object hierarchy to easily filter the data that needs to be reviewed or merged.

  • The Show differences in hierarchy mode is enabled to perform a complete merge of data from the source database to the target database with a single click. The complete merge process generates an HTML log report for all the changes made in the target database and errors that are encountered during the merge process.

  • The Show differences in hierarchy feature provides you with flexibility to perform comparisons of CMS data and Non-CMS data together or separately based on the requirements. After the completion of the comparison, you can choose to merge CMS and Non-CMS content or discard it.

  • You can mark the visited nodes as reviewed for tracking the merging progress in the Show differences in hierarchy mode. The reviewed nodes can then be hidden from the merge tool's user interface.

  • The Re-Compare Hierarchy option is available with the Right Mouse Click (RMC) menu in the Show differences in hierarchy mode. Once you merge data under a node, you can re-compare the hierarchy whenever required to get the updated tree view.

  • You can compare and merge diverse NLS (NLS1-English and NLS19-Industry) details in Mode 2. The node color-coding reflects the status of the NLS column data, and node re-comparison is done based on these NLS columns. The NLS checkbox enables you to view alternative NLS data details within the source and target grids.

  • The SDB Merge Tool provides the ability to report the data from both databases into an Excel file. You can select a node and report the data related to that object. The data is reported side by side for each attribute value. This enables you to easily compare the data differences. This functionality helps in identifying exact SDB upgrade changes during the migration process so that you can select and merge the required changes to target.

  • Functionalities like Excel Report, Sort or Filter, Saving Direct Child Records, Saving Dependencies, and so on are available in both modes.
