To allow comparison and mapping operations, a complete set of data must be loaded into the Source and Target panes. Since it may take a long time to display all the entities in your application, to improve the performance, you can preselect and load only the entities you are interested in comparing. This procedure explains how to scope the entities to be compared. The results after loading show whether the entities you want to map already exist in the application on the target side or whether new entities will need to be created in the target.

  1. Select the plant and application whose data you want to view.

  2. Launch the Schema Management module and choose Integrated mode.

On selecting Integrated mode, if no SDx endpoint source is available for the registered Smart 3D plant, you are prompted to add or activate an SDx endpoint source.

  3. Extended Common Schema data is loaded into the Source pane, as can be seen from the schema name that appears beside the SOURCE button. At Plant Level, the loaded entities appear under the following categories: Properties, Lists, and List Items.

  4. Click the link for the desired category of entities to be viewed, for example: Properties.

  5. Use the Search box and filters if you need to narrow the list of properties that appear in the Source pane.

    The search is case-sensitive.

  6. Select one or more check boxes beside the rows in the Source pane to specify the scope of the data to be loaded. The following example shows selection of several properties associated with one of the interfaces for class Equipment.

When selecting a property for loading, ensure that you also select any list shown in the Scoped By List column. Likewise, when selecting a list item for loading, ensure that you select its parent list too.

SHARED Tip To choose all the items from the filtered list, select the check box at the top of the first column.

  7. Select entities under the Lists and List Items categories as required.

    • When you choose a different category to select entities, any selections you already made under other categories will be preserved.

    • Entities in the List Items category are only displayed if the corresponding parent entity under the Lists category was first selected.

  8. Click LOAD to load the relevant data into the Target pane.

  9. After loading the scoped data in the target, use the Search box and filters if you need to narrow the list of entities that appear in the Target pane.

SHARED Tip Use the collapse / expand icons () to display more columns of the Source or Target panes in the view.

  • After loading of the target data is complete, the LOAD button is deactivated, and the COMPARE button is activated.

  • If you clear the search and filter criteria in the Source pane, the check boxes will be cleared for any entities that were not in the filtered scope.

  • If, after loading, a property that was selected in the Source pane is deselected, the results in the Target pane change accordingly but the LOAD button remains deactivated.

  • If, after loading, an additional property is selected in the Source pane, the LOAD button is activated again.
