The Material Wizard allows you to build up an item code, a description, and an SKEY for a new material by selecting values from a series of lists.
To use the Material Wizard, build rules and associated list tables must be present in the active database. When you create a new database, the BuildRules table is empty, and there are no list tables present.
-
You can create build rules using the Material Wizard Rules Editor.
-
Sample specifications, including a set of list tables, are delivered with the software. You can copy the sample data using the Reference Table Copy Utility, and then modify the data to meet your specific needs. For more information, see Move reference table data between databases. Alternatively, you can create list tables from scratch. For more information, see Create a new reference table.
-
Select a component type in the Material Builder tree view. For example, select Pipe.
-
Click Material Wizard .
-
Open the Item code prefix list, and then select a value.
-
Open each of the remaining lists, and then select a value from each.
As you select values, the software builds up the item code, description, and SKEY in the Item code, Description, and SKEY text boxes at the bottom of the Material Wizard.
If there are more lists than can display in the Material Wizard, use the scroll bar underneath the Material definition list to view them.
-
Click OK.
The software displays the information in the main data area of the Material Builder.
When you click Material Wizard , the software searches first for existing build rules for the component type and then for the item code. If none are found, the software displays a message. After you click OK, the software opens the Material Wizard, but it contains no data.
