The web service for each web API must be configured separately, and the configuration steps must be followed on each computer that hosts the service.

To get started

  1. If you are configuring the API for the first time on this machine, make sure all the prerequisites are installed.

Before you can configure a web API on a machine, make sure that the following are already installed.

  2. Open the Configuration Utility for the Smart API you are configuring.

    1. Click Start > Intergraph Smart 3D.

    2. Choose the tool for the Web API you're configuring, either Web API Configuration Tool or Admin Web API Configuration Tool.

The Configuration Utility opens to the Welcome page, which looks something like this.

The Smart 3D Service Manager page.

The Windows service is not running.

For the Intergraph Smart 3D WebApi Service Manager Windows service, provide the username and password that the service runs under.

(Note that the same Windows service runs the services for both the Smart 3D and Smart 3D Admin web API.)

Because this login is used to run a Windows service, it must have Log on as a service rights on the computer. Unless you have set up Smart 3D to support database user access, this login is also used to access the Smart 3D databases so it must also have database access.

  3. On the Welcome page, select the option for the API you're configuring:

    • For the Smart 3D Web API - Select Configure Smart 3D Data and click Next. Continue with the instructions for configuring the Smart 3D service.

    • For the Smart 3D Admin Web API - Select Enable Smart 3D Admin Data and click Next. Continue with the instructions for configuring the Smart 3D Admin Service.

SHARED Tip The steps for configuring the service are different for each API, so there are two sets of instructions.
