Communication between software applications and the database server use Microsoft SQL Server encrypted connections. This encryption method is managed by the generation and installation of a certificate for the server that hosts the database engine. The application must then verify the authenticity of this certificate either through the certification authority that issued it or by having the certificate stored locally. Once the certificate is configured and stored, Microsoft SQL Server encrypted connections are enforced on the server.
