Who can export component data?

You can export component data if your user role is associated with SPC_ExportComponents access group.

Which data can I export?

You can export component data from one or more component category views to an Excel workbook.

When I export data, I see two extra columns in the Excel worksheet that aren't in the view from the client. What do these columns mean?

Two extra columns are exported in your data to detail the UID of a component and whether or not the component is a tombstone.

Column name

Contains

UID

Unique identifiers for components. This column is hidden in the worksheet.

Tombstoned

Indicates if a component is included (False) or removed (True) from engineering data. This column is hidden in the worksheet.

For more information on tombstoned components, see Deleted components and tombstones in Smart Construction.

What happens if I export component data with the same view names?

To maintain uniqueness, the view names are changed to the next value available in the sequence number. For example, if you export View 01, View 01, and View 02, the target workbook contains View 01, View 01_1, and View 02 sheets.

What happens when I export a column scoped by a UoM property type?

The column is split into the value and UoM columns in the workbook, adjacent to each other. For example, the Size column is split into the Size and Size UOM columns in the target workbook.

Click Refresh View Data to refresh the view before exporting.

  1. Click Export Data in the [component category name] window.

  2. In the Export from [component category name] window, input the target Excel file path.

You can export data to an .xlsx file format only.

  3. Select one or more views to be exported.

Filtered data from a view is exported when you apply a filter on one or more columns.

  4. Click Export.
