In the course of your design work, you can define properties for a new rule or modify properties of existing rules. You can do something as simple as add a description to a rule or something as complicated as authoring an entirely new rule with multiple consistency criteria to govern a special relationship between two very specific items in Smart Electrical. You can create or modify rules at any stage of the project life-cycle when project requirements dictate a change.

Create a Relation Rule

This procedure allows you create a rule in which consistency criteria apply to two specific rule components (that is, item types or filters).

Create a Single Component Rule

This procedure allows you to create a rule in which consistency criteria apply to one rule component only (a specific item type or a filter). Such a rule can evaluate and validate consistency of the properties or property values of a specific item tag. Also, you can create a single component rule that only applies to reference data.

Display Rule Properties

This procedure allows you to display rule name, description, rule components, and consistency criteria defined for an existing rule.

Modify Rule Properties

This procedure allows you to modify properties of an existing rule.

Change the Rule Type

This procedure allows you to change a relation rule to a single component rule or change a single component rule to a relation rule.

Disable a Rule

This procedure allows you to disable a specific rule.

Print a Rules Summary Report

This procedure allows you to generate and print a report of all rules saved in your rule base.

Save a Rule Base

This procedure allows you to save changes that you made to rule properties or changes made in the tree view.
