  1. Set up your Main view to display all or required sections of the model.

    • To match the wireframe in the Main view with the Clipping Volume dialog box, adjust your view such that the axes in the wireframe match with the axes in the Clip Volume dialog box.

    • You can perform a zoom or fit to get closer to the displayed objects and continue your work. Selecting the Fit command automatically takes you to a fitted view of the selected objects in the view, if any. If no objects are selected, Fit takes you to a fitted view of the active clip volume. If there is no active clip volume, Fit takes you to a fitted view of the entire model.

  2. Click on one or more objects in the Main view, and then click View > Controls > Adjust Clip Volume .

The clip volume wireframe defaults to the volume that covers all the selected objects. If no objects are selected, the clip volume wireframe defaults to half the volume of the currently-visible model and around the center of the entire dataset range.

  3. To size the clip volume wireframe, you can use the mouse to move the wireframe in the Main view, or use the selection and slider tools in the Clip Volume dialog box.

    1. Select the face or corner faces to size by clicking on the wireframe in the Main view, or using controls in the Clip Volume dialog box..

The example below shows the Top Front Right plane faces have been selected.

    2. Drag the slider on the Clip Volume dialog box to increase or decrease the 3D wireframe size, or drag the selected face, edge, or corner using your mouse.

You can also rotate the wireframe. For more information, see Rotate a Clip Volume.

  4. When the clipping volume is at the required size and location, click Clipping Control in the Clip Volume dialog box.

Smart Review removes all objects that are not in the clip volume wireframe.

  5. After you define your clipping volume area, you can further edit the view by turning off and on clipping for individual faces or corner faces (a corner consists of three adjacent faces that are all selected when you click on a corner). To do this:

    1. Select and then double-click the clipping volume wireframe in the Main view or the controls in the Clip Volume dialog box. The example below shows the clipping of faces for the top back left corner turned off.

    2. Double-click again on the corner to turn clipping back on.

    3. If you double-click all the faces, the software closes and exits clipping volume.
