Smart Review provides multiple ways to create a display set. You can create a display set either from objects selected in the Main view, or by using the shortcut menu in the Project Manager. You can also create new display sets by copying existing display sets and then naming them. For more information about display sets, see Display Set Notes and Considerations.

The Edit Definition command can be used to create a new display set based on defined queries. For more information, see Edit a Display Set Definition.

Create a Display Set From Selected Objects

Follow the steps below to create a display set from objects you select in the Main view. This method offers a quick creation process.

  1. Identify the objects on your Main view that you want to group into a display set.

  2. Click Edit > Select Filter, and then select the filter that applies to the type of objects you want to select.

    • The Elements filter selects only geometry elements in the view.

    • The Objects filter select only graphic objects, which can also contain one or more elements.

    • The Linked Objects are element data grouped by DMRS linkage.

    • The Display Set filter selects all objects making up a display set.

  3. In the Main view, press CTRL to select multiple objects in a display set.

    • Open the Text window (Window > Text) or Properties (View > Properties) so that you can see information on your selected objects, and status messages when a display set is created.

    • Open Project Manager (View > Project Manager) to see the display sets that are created and placed in the Display Sets folder. If you have a different folder selected in the Project Manager, Smart Review inserts the new display sets into that folder.

  4. Click Display Sets > New > Display Set.

You can also click New Display Set in the Animation toolbar, or right-click to open a shortcut menu and click New Display Set.

Smart Review automatically creates the display set in the Display Sets folder in the Project Manager, and assigns it the name New Display Set [#] where the number value (#) is the user ID.

If you have the Project Manager open, you can type in a new name and move it under a different folder.

  5. Repeat steps 3-4 for each display set you want to create. You can always go back and use the Project Manager to rename the display set and move it to another folder location.
