  1. Click SmartPlant > Non-UI Command > Register.

  2. Type a tool plant name in the Test Tool Plant Name box.

    • The first character cannot be a number or a punctuation character.

    • The first three letters cannot be "xml" (or XML, Xml, and so forth).

    • The name cannot contain any spaces or special characters (for example, #, @, $, %, and so forth).

    • Tool plants exist separately from SmartPlant Foundation plants. The name of a tool plant is not necessarily the same as the name of the SmartPlant Foundation plant with which it is registered.

  3. If you want to modify the default tool parameters or define additional parameters, click Tool Parameters. In the Tool Parameters dialog box, modify the Name or Value, and click OK to return to the Register dialog box.

    • The default value in the Tool Parameters dialog box is the tool plant name you typed in the previous step.

    • To add more parameters, use the Click here to add new item button and provide a name and a value for each parameter you add. Click OK to return to the Register dialog box when you are finished adding or modifying parameters.

  4. To change the location of the test tool plant document files, click to browse to and select another folder.

SHARED Tip See Test document files for more information about the test tool document file default location.

  5. Replace the default value in the Tool Description box, if necessary.

  6. Enter a user name in the SmartPlant Foundation User Name box.

  7. Enter a password in the SmartPlant Foundation User Password box.

  8. Type the URL of the plant to which you want to register in the SmartPlant Foundation URL box.

SHARED Tip Click List Nodes to switch the SmartPlant Foundation URL box to a drop-down list that contains a list of nodes attached to the network. You can select a node from this list to begin the URL in the SmartPlant Foundation URL box.

  9. Click Get Plants, and then select the plant to which you want to register from the SmartPlant Foundation Plant Name list.

Get Plants is enabled only when the SmartPlant Foundation URL is in the following format: http://<NodeName>/<SiteURL> or https://<NodeName>/<SiteURL>.

  10. Click OK.
