  1. In Microsoft Excel, open the [Product Folder]\CatalogData\BulkLoad\DataFiles\StructSlabLayer.xls workbook.

  2. Select the sheet that best describes the layer that you want to add. For example, if you were adding a layer that consists of a sheet of corrugated steel, you would select the Slab Corrugated sheet. Similarly, if you were adding fireproofing layer, you would select the Slab Fireproofing sheet. If there is not a sheet that fits, refer to the Reference Data Guide for information about adding part classes to the catalog.

  3. Between the Start and End keywords that appear in column A, add a row to the spreadsheet. If a layer exists in the sheet that is similar to the layer that you want to define, consider copying the existing row.

  4. Enter a part number for the layer. You will use this part number when defining the layer compositions later, so use descriptive but short part numbers. In addition, this part number must be unique across the entire catalog.

  5. Enter a part description in the Part Description column.

  6. Enter the continuity codelist value. Valid values are defined in the AllCodeLists.xls workbook on the Slab Continuity sheet in the Codelist Number column.

  7. Type a description of the material in the Material column.

  8. Type a description of the material grade in the Grade column.

  9. Enter a thickness for the layer.

  10. Enter the Sub Interface name for the layer in the SubInterface Name column. This is the VB symbol macro code that knows how to interpret the attributes of the layer. If you are not sure of what to enter, use what is entered for other layers on the same sheet.

  11. Define values for any other attribute listed on the sheet.

  12. Click File > Save to save your changes.

  • In column A of every row that you add, type the letter A to indicate to the Bulkload utility that you are adding this row of information.

  • For more information about the bulk loading, see Using the Bulkload Modes in the Reference Data Guide.
