Lists the intersections for the selected parts, cutting planes, or blocks. Options in the dialog box allow you to change the intersection to Split (for structural parts only) or to Assign the intersected part to a block. You can also specify an offset and a direction to modify the position of the split. After parts are cut, the dialog box keeps track of splits that the Manage Block Intersections command created. If parts resulting from a planning split are later split from within another task (such as Structural Detailing), the dialog box will continue to keep track of the original higher level splits done.

Identification

Displays the name of the intersected part. Placing a split that divides the initial part into more than two parts adds relations on the intersection object to the new parts. The Manage Block Intersections dialog box keeps track of the initial intersection.

Status

Controls the allowed/available settings for Offset and Into Block. The following status types are available:

Intersected

The identified part intersects the cutting plane. This is the default status. The Offset and Into Block fields remain empty.

Split

Creates a split in the position indicated by offset and offset direction. Only intersecting structural parts can be split. This status is unavailable if a component, such as an outfitting part, cannot be split.

Assigned

Assigns the entire identified part to the indicated block without splitting it.

Offset

Allows you to key in an offset value. An offset can only be set if the status is set to Split. When the status is changed to Assigned or back to Intersected, the Offset field is cleared. Additional parts are created as the result of a split and are automatically assigned to either block dependent on the offset location.

Into Block

Specifies the block into which the offset split is applied. This option is only available when there is an offset value for a split.

Multiple selection intersection edit

Specifies the Status, Offset, and Into Block settings to apply at one time to multiple selected items in the list.

Information on selected intersection

Provides details on Blocks and Parts involved in the intersection of a selected item in the list.

Show

Highlights in the model the blocks and parts selected.

Planning Seams

A planning seam is created when Manage Block Intersections is run and an intersecting part is set to Split or Offset.

A planning seam is deleted when Manage Block Intersections is run and an intersecting part is set to Intersected or Assigned.

A planning seam is modified when the cutting plane of a block is modified.

Planning seams can also be added manually using the seam commands in the Molded Forms task. For more information, see Creating Seams in the Molded Forms User's Guide.
