You can use Tools > Import Material Data to import your own items codes and material descriptions from a Microsoft Excel worksheet directly into the software. You can then access this imported data in the Material Builder and use it when creating new materials.
In addition to importing item codes and material descriptions, you can use the Import Material Data tool to filter the data so that the Material Builder only displays those item codes and material descriptions that are specific to the component type or group that you are currently creating.

The imported data must be either an Excel (*.xls) file or an Excel-supported file type.

In the Excel worksheet, the item codes, descriptions, and component types and groups must be present in discrete columns within the worksheet or range. The columns, however, need not be adjacent.

The Import Material Data tool does not read the first row of the worksheet.
