  1. To run SmartPlant Test Tool in file-only mode, which does not require SmartPlant Foundation, create an environment variable called EFCommonUIFileMode with the following value: 1.

  2. In the SmartPlant Test Tool, click SmartPlant > Retrieve to display the Select Plant or Project dialog box containing a list of the plants you registered.

    SHARED Tip If you registered a tool plant in file-only mode, the SmartPlant Foundation plants column is empty.

  3. Click a plant in the table.

  4. Click OK.

  5. Select the documents you want to retrieve.

  6. Click OK to display Select Data XML File dialog box.

  7. Select the data XML file for the document you want to retrieve. The file's name should be in the following format: <document name>_Data.xml.

  8. Click Open to display the Select Meta-data XML File dialog box.

  9. Select the meta data XML file for the document you want to retrieve. The file's name should be in the following format: <document name>_Meta.xml.

  10. Click Open to display the Select Tombstones XML File dialog box.

  11. Select the delete instructions XML file for the document you want to retrieve. The file name should be in the following format: <document name>_Tombstones.xml.

  12. Click Open. A confirmation message box appears.

  • Retrieved files are placed in a Retrieved directory under the plant files directory you chose when you registered the tool plant.

  • For each document you retrieve, the SmartPlant Test Tool will create at least three files named as follows:

    • <document name>_Data.xml

    • <document name>_Tombstone.xml

    • <document name>_Metadata.xml

    • For example, a document named Test2 generates Test2_Data.xml and so on.
