What is a Requisition Number Rule?

The way in which a requisition number is automatically generated by the MTO (material take off) job is called a requisition number rule. When defining a Requisition Number Rule, you must ensure that it always generates unique and consistent requisition numbers. Otherwise, the subsequent MTO job fails and you will be forced to modify your rule.

What is a Requisition Rule Definition?

The entry in Req Rule Definition defines the requisition number rule. For the rule definition, you can use any fixed text in combination with several pre-defined parameters. To add parameters to the rule definition, use the select list. The available values are as follows:

  • If REQ_TYPE is used in a rule definition, an 'I' is added to the requisition number for requisitions that can only be used for inquiries and a 'P' is added to the requisition number if the requisition can be used for both inquiries and agreements.

  • This variable cannot be used in rule definitions if Manual is set to Yes.

RULE_SEQ

Rule Sequence Number

As a sequence number, you can either use REQ_SEQ, which creates unique numbers for the entire project, or use RULE_SEQ, which uses separate number cycles for each rule.

The parameters must be delimited by the special character #. This is done automatically when selecting the parameters from the select list. Free text must be entered without this special character.

    • No is the default value. when you select No the rule is used for numbering requisitions generated using MTO job.

    • When you select Yes, this rule is used for numbering manual requisitions.

  5. Select the Req Rule Definition from the list.

You can use the project default ZR_MAN_RR to specify that the rule is used as the default for numbering manually created requisitions on the Maintain Requisitions page.
