Standard Database for Smart Reference Data Version
12.1

After logging into the SDB Merge Tool, the user is prompted to select the mode.

  • Differences not shown in hierarchy: This mode is conventional merging methodology.

  • Show differences in hierarchy: Using this mode users can see the differences between the two databases in the object hierarchy view. Show differences in Hierarchy mode provides the following:

    • Non-CMS Data

    • CMS Data

You can select the Non-CMS and/or CMS option for comparison. Once the comparison is completed the following sub modes are enabled for comparison completed data.

  • Selective Merge of Data: Using this mode, user can manually merge the required data after database comparison is completed.

  • Complete Merge of Data: In this mode, all the data will be merged from source database to target database without any manual effort.

If you choose to perform the Non-CMS comparison first, you can opt for any of the following during login

  • Perform the comparison for CMS

  • Perform selective/complete merge of Non-CMS data. (Comparison completed).

For the users migrating from SDB 2018 R1/2020 to SDB version 12.1, we recommend you to use Show differences in hierarchy mode.

If you select Show differences in hierarchy mode for the first time, it may take up to several hours to generate the comparison data.

Show differences in hierarchy mode has the following features:

  • Show the data differences in the hierarchical tree view with color coding for easy classification at any node level.

  • Have Hierarchy Filters (Identical, different, source only, target only) which are provided at the top of the object hierarchy section. User can select one or more filters on the tree hierarchy view to filter out unnecessary nodes depending on user’s requirement.

On right clicking a node, user can select from the following options:

  • Mark as reviewed: Users can select this option on any node level if they want to mark it as reviewed. Reviewed nodes will have symbol in the beginning of node text.

  • Unmark reviewed: User can select this option on already reviewed node(s) to remove the reviewed tag.

  • Unmark reviewed for child nodes: If the users marked a node or child nodes as reviewed, they can undo the operation by choosing this option. This will unmark all marked nodes under the selected node.

    • When the user marks more than one node as reviewed the Hide Reviewed option appears on the header. This option helps hide the reviewed nodes in the UI.

    • When the user clicks Show Reviewed all the hidden reviewed records appear.

  • Re-compare Hierarchy: When the user merges one or more records under a node, the symbol which indicates "node category not up to date" is added at the end. User needs to re-compare the hierarchy to update the tree view for the selected node.

    • User must re-compare the nodes after the completion of merging data under that node to re-validate the data under that specific node.

    • Re-comparison of data nodes my take time depending on the available data under the selected node.
