Plant-wide parameters are parameters that you define for a specific plant group within a plant (plant-wide, area-wide, unit-wide, and so forth). These parameters become default property values of item types used in a specific plant group within a plant. A plant group is a specific group available within a plant hierarchy, for example, Plant1, Area1, Unit1. Plant, area and unit are examples of plant group types. The available plant group types depend on the plant hierarchy you define in Smart Electrical.

You define parameters for a plant group after assigning item types to plant group types in the Item Types Window. The property values that you set become the default values that appear in the Smart Electrical Properties window whenever users create new item types in the current plant.

If you do not assign an item type to a plant group type, you cannot define default values for the properties of this item type.

You can select a plant group and define its parameters in one of the following ways:

  • You can select a specific item type and define values for the required item type properties.

  • You can copy property values from item types of a source plant group to the specified plant group.

When defining or copying property values, the software also dynamically updates the values of the dependent properties. For example, if you change values of the Brake Power and Motor Rated Power properties, the Demand Factor value is updated accordingly.
