Four butt weld types are delivered. The selection rule uses the selector questions, some of which are user-definable, and the thickness of the plates to determine which butt weld to select. The following sections describe each weld possibility.
Butt Weld I
Butt Weld I includes only a nose and a root gap between the parts. It is selected under the following conditions:
-
If the Category is OneSided and the overlapping thickness of the two parts is 12mm or less
-
If the Category is TwoSided and the overlapping thickness of the two parts is 14mm or less.
Butt Weld Y
Butt Weld Y has a nose and is beveled on one side. It is selected under the following conditions:
-
If the Category is OneSided and the overlapping thickness of the two parts is greater than 12mm and less than 30mm.
Butt Weld X
Butt Weld X includes has a nose and bevels on both sides of the plate. It is selected under the following conditions:
-
If the Category is OneSided and the overlapping thickness of the two parts is greater than 30mm
-
If the Category is TwoSided and the overlapping thickness of the two parts is greater than 20mm.
Butt Weld V
Butt weld V is an unsymmetrical bevel. One of the parts receives a nose that has a different NoseOrientationAngle. You can flip it to the other part. This bevel is available in cases that are similar to Butt weld 2.
-
If the Category is OneSided and the overlapping thickness of the two parts is greater than 12mm and less than 30mm.
-
If the Category is TwoSided and the overlapping thickness of the two parts is greater than 14mm and less than or equal to 20mm.
