Version 2018

  • Smart Review supports navigation using a 3D mouse (wired and wireless) to work in tandem with your standard mouse and touch controls for an enhanced design review experience. Refer to the documentation that came with your 3D mouse for setup and configuration instructions.

  • The Smart Review Renderer provides direct support for Virtual Reality (VR) devices such as the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. For more information, see Raytrace and Render Model Objects

  • Smart Review provides the following two features to support .fbx output:

    • The File > Export > Main View to FBX command allows you to export all the graphics currently shown in the Main view to either a binary or ASCII (text) .fbx file format. This allows you to open the exported file in a third-party FBX file viewer. Export Main View to FBX requires the Photo-Realism module. For more information, see Export Main View to FBX.

    • The new Save As command on the Renderer window allows you to save all the objects visible in the Renderer window to the .fbx format and some additional common 3D formats. You can then download the appropriate third-party viewer to see the resulting file. For more information, see Save Rendered Models As FBX Files.

  • For Tablet mode:

    • In general, the navigation pane, command, and icon displays have been updated.

    • The navigation pane has been updated to provide an additional menu containing commonly used commands. Tap Expand to access the Open, Save, Isolate, Properties, and Help commands. New command icons have also been added. For more information, see Use Tablet Mode for Quick Reviews.

    • The Measure command has been added to Tablet Mode to continuously measure from one point to the next. For more information, see Measure (Tablet Mode).

    • A new property card displays when you select an object in the model. The property card can be expanded to show all related properties, attachments, and system data. Attachments include any 2D drawings associated to an object. To quickly review object properties, the property card supports the vertical swipe touch motion to move up and down the list. For more information, see View Properties and Attachments (Tablet Mode).

    • A Filter command has been added so that you can refine object selection. You can filter graphic objects that can be selected in the model by display set or project file. For more information, see Filter for Selection (Tablet Mode).

    • The new X-Ray command displays non-selected objects in a semi-transparent manner so that you can easily see selected objects in the model. This command has been added for both Tablet and Classic modes. For more information, see X-Ray Mode.

    • The look and location of Search has been updated. For more information, see Search (Tablet Mode).

    • A new Reset command has been added to the expanded menu list so that you can quickly reset Tablet mode to a preset configuration. For more information, see Reset (Tablet Mode).

  • Smart Review now supports .igr, .sha, .pid, and .spe 2D drawing file types. The 2D drawing attachment features include:

    • You can attach a 2D drawing file to an object property in your 3D model, and then display the drawing sheets in a new Document view available in both Tablet and Classic modes. The Document view supports multiple drawing sheets.

    • In Tablet mode, Smart Review opens the Document view to display the drawing and resizes the Main view.

    • When you select a Smart 3D graphical object in the Main view, Smart Review automatically selects that graphical object if it is in the displayed 2D drawing in the Document view, and vice versa.

    • Right-click in the Document view to display a set of review commands specific to 2D drawings.

    • You can perform Search, Home, and Fit operations in the 2D Document view while in Tablet mode.

For more information, see View Properties and Attachments (Tablet Mode), Attach and Review Drawings, and Document Command.

  • Touch inertia has been added so that you can swipe across the touch screen to smoothly scroll the model view. The speed and direction of the finger movement determines the direction of and speed at which the view scrolls. The scrolling continues, even after you withdraw your finger, to decelerate before coming to a complete stop.

  • The Sync in SBS/ABS selection filter feature allows you to toggle on and off the synchronization of the object selection in the Main view and the System or Assembly Breakdown Structure display. For more information, see Sync in SBS/ABS.

  • The Performance Control default setting has been changed to Balanced. For more information on Performance Control settings, see Set Motion and Display Performance.

  • The Reduce VUE File Geometry memory option has been enhanced to allow more graphics data reduction. For more information on this option, see Options Tab (Create Project Dialog Box).

  • Smart Review automatically optimizes .vue, .zvf, and .svf file data at load time to improve display performance. The new View > Advanced > Optimize on Load command allows you to turn on and off the optimization. For more information, see Optimize Model Rendering.

  • Graphics hardware usage has been optimized to improve rendering performance.

  • The CloudWorx for SmartPlant Review product no longer requires the Smart Review Point Cloud Integrator module. However, third-party point cloud software applications still require the Point Cloud Integrator module. You must use CloudWorx for SmartPlant Review 2017 and above with SmartPlant Review 2017 HF4 and above.

  • A Windows 10 theme has been added for customizing your model view. For more information, see Change Themes.

  • Changed the touch mode motion behavior so that you can use one finger to pan the model and two finger touch to turn, rotate, zoom in and zoom out. For more information on touch support, see Touchscreen Support and Terminology and Navigation (Tablet Mode).

  • The shortcut key combination for the Photo-Realism Renderer has been changed to SHIFT + 2.

  • When you select an object in Classic mode, a tooltip now displays. By default, the tooltip shows the object name and the number of associated documents and 2D drawings. For more information on changing the tooltip display content, see Tooltips.
