  • Make sure you complete the compare task before you execute a sync.

  • Depending on the quantity of reference data, the sync process may take 2 hours or longer to go to completion. Sometimes, your Smart Engineering Manager Web Application session can timeout before the end of the sync process. If this happens, the sync continues to run on the server but you will not see the sync process running if you log in to the Smart Engineering Manager Web Application again. To verify the status of the sync process, do the following:

    1. Log in again and click the COMPARE button to run the compare process again. If the source and target data are identical, this indicates the sync completed successfully; if there are differences between the source and target, then the sync process failed or is still in progress.

    2. On the server where the sync process is running, navigate to the log file on the server, which is located in the path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Smart\Engineering Manager\3.0\Server\logs. The file indicates the status of the sync process on completion (success or failure).

To extend the timeout period, if you have access to the authentication server, you can increase the lifetime of the token.

  1. In the Reference Data Sync page, from the Plant Level entities list or the Application Level entities list, select an entity which has a green or yellow dot by them.

If you have selected a package as your source, a message appears stating that the data is not viewable in a grid format.

  2. Click SYNC.

  3. Click YES on the information message dialog box.

View the Sync Summary that opens and select one of the options below Sync has completed. What would you like to do now?

  4. Select one of the following options: Recompare, Reload, or Exit Reference Data Sync.

  5. Click OK.

The screen shot below displays a Sync Summary between a source package and a target, associated with the Smart Electrical application.

The sync report opens by default. To generate a report at a later time, click REPORTS and from the Choose Report window select Sync Results, and click OK.
