Two additional symbol parameters are required only for tripping brackets. They are linear constraints that provide required initial values. Otherwise, symbol parameters are similar to other brackets. For more information, see Define Bracket Symbol Properties.

Length1 - The initial distance to move along support 1.

Length2 - The initial distance to move along support 2.

For each tripping bracket symbol property:

  1. Right-click the dimension, and select Properties.

  2. Click the User tab.

  3. Type Names in the Attribute set field.

  4. Type Name in the Name field.

  5. Select Text in the Type field.

  6. Type the attribute name (such as Length1) in the Value field.

  7. Click Add.

  8. Click OK.

  • Tripping bracket properties are in their own attribute set (Names) and are in addition to the properties created for the same dimensions using Symbol Properties on the Bracket Symbols toolbar.

  • For a 3S bracket, only Length2 is necessary, because the length of support 1 is determined by support 3.

The same symbol can be used for both detailing and tripping brackets as long as the symbol has the required parameters for both.
