You can organize the transportation of your material by defining means of conveyance (MOC), for example, a vessel, a plane or a truck, and assigning release notes, packages, or MMTs to them. These MOCs will then appear in the traffic tree on PT.20.01. The means of conveyance can be defined on the PT.20.11 Means of Conveyance screen.

If this screen is opened via fastcall from a release note below the 'Forecast' node on PT.20.01, you can directly create a new means of conveyance. The loading point is already filled with the delivery place of the release note. After you have filled all mandatory fields in the first block, you can move to the second block where the release note from PT.20.01 is displayed. You can then enter a bill of lading or AWB number, add more release notes, or save the data.

The release note can only be displayed in the second block after you have entered all required information in the first block and then moved to the second block, due to the mandatory fields in the first block that cannot be filled by the system.

In the first (Means of Conveyance) block, you define the means of conveyance. A means of conveyance is needed if material makes an intermediate stop before it arrives on site. This is typically arranged by a freight forwarder and is usually done by either ocean freight or air freight, although it could be any other type of freight as well.

Enter the name of the carrier in the Carrier Name field.

In the Voy or Flt Num field, enter the number of the voyage or the flight.

Select the estimated time (date) of departure from the LOV in the ETD Date field. If the loading point of a transportation is the same as the destination marked marked as 'Shipping' in the Date Type field of P.10.53 Routing Methods, the ETD date of the means of conveyance is copied over as the forecasted date for this destination for the item shipments of all release notes that are assigned to the means of conveyance. If the loading point does not represent such a destination but a shipping destination has been assigned to the release note for this means of conveyance, the ETD date is copied over to that shipping destination.

Select the estimated time (date) of arrival from the LOV in the ETA Date field. If the unloading point of a transportation is the delivery designation of a release note, the ETA date of the means of conveyance is copied over as the forecasted date for the destination marked as 'Traffic Arrival' in the Date Type field of P.10.53 Routing Methods for the item shipments of all release notes that are assigned to the means of conveyance. If the unloading point does not fulfill this criterion but a shipping destination has been assigned to the release note on this means of conveyance, the ETA date is copied over to the destination of type 'Traffic Arrival'. In both cases, if no destination of type 'Traffic Arrival' exists but a destination of type 'Arrival On Site' does exist, this one will be updated instead.

The ATD Date field shows the actual time (date) of departure. If the loading point of the MOC is the same as the destination marked as 'Shipping' on P.10.53 Routing Methods, the ATD date is copied over as the actual date for this destination to the item shipments of all release notes assigned to the means of conveyance. If the loading point does not represent such a destination but a shipping destination has been assigned to the release note on this means of conveyance, the ATD date is copied over to that shipping destination.

The ATA Date field shows the actual time (date) of arrival. If the unloading point of the means of conveyance is the delivery designation of the assigned release notes, the ATA date is copied over as the actual date for the destination marked as 'Traffic Arrival' on P.10.53 Routing Methods for the item shipments of all affected release notes. If the unloading point does not fulfill this criterion but a shipping destination has been assigned to the release note on this means of conveyance, the ATA date is copied over to the destination of type 'Traffic Arrival'. In both cases, if no destination of type 'Traffic Arrival' exists but a destination of type 'Arrival On Site' does exist, this one will be updated instead.

The Loading Point field displays the name of the delivery place or destination where the transportation starts. You can enter any delivery place of any release note or any destination that has been defined on P.10.52 Destinations. If you enter a value that can neither be found as a delivery place nor as a destination, the entry is interpreted as a new destination. The system will automatically create a new entry on P.10.52 that will be available for future use.

Delivery places can be entered in mixed case with a length of up to 40 characters. Destinations are always defined in uppercase with a length of up to 30 characters. Therefore, when you enter an unknown value, the length of the entry is restricted to 30 characters. You can enter the value using mixed case but the data will be stored with uppercase.

If the loading point represents a delivery place, that is, the start of the transport chain, the background color of this field is set to green.

The Unloading Point field displays the name of the destination or delivery designation where transportation ends. You can enter any destination that has been defined on P.10.52 Destinations or any delivery designation that has been defined on A.10.39 Delivery Designations. If you enter a value that can neither be found as a destination nor as a delivery designation, the entry is interpreted as a new destination. The system will then automatically create a new entry on P.10.52 that will be available for future use.

If the unloading point represents a delivery designation, that is, the end of the transport chain, the background color of this field is set to green.

You can enter the invoice number in the Invoice Number field, and the amount of the invoice in the Amount field, with its currency in the Currency field. You can select the currency from the LOV, and you can double-click in this field to open the A.10.12 Units of Measure screen where currencies are defined. For new records, the value of project default ZX_CURCY is used as the default currency.

The Calculated Amount field shows the amount of the invoice automatically calculated by the system. This amount covers the costs for all item shipments assigned to the release notes of the MOC except for split detail tags (see below). If the quantity of an item shipment differs from the quantity of the order line item, the costs are applied proportionately. If detail tags have been created, their costs are only included in this amount if all detail tags of a master tag have been placed in the same release note. If detail tags have been split on different release notes, their amount is shown in the Master Tag Amount field. For the calculation of the amount, the net price that can be seen on the P.50.07 Maintain Agreements screen is used. The calculation is done for the currency assigned to the means of conveyance. If no currency has been entered, the value of project default ZX_CURCY is used.

If detail tags have been created and placed on different release notes, the costs of their master tag are shown in the Master Tag Amount field. These costs are not included in the value shown in the Calculated Amount field because only parts of these costs are associated with the release note.

The Name 1/Name 2 fields can be used to enter the first/second name of the vessel, plane, truck, and so forth.

If the Cont check box is selected, there are contingencies among the transport costs attached to either this means of conveyance, to one of the release notes put on the MOC, or one of the packages assigned to the release notes on this MOC.

The Total Weight field displays the total weight of the means of conveyance. The total weight is calculated for the unit defined by project default ZX_WEIGHT. The unit of the total weight is shown in the Weight Unit field.

The Total Volume field shows the total volume of the means of conveyance. The total volume is calculated for the unit defined by project default ZX_VOLUME. The unit of the total volume is displayed in the Volume Unit field.

The Total Freight Ton field shows the total freight tons of the means of conveyance.

The MOC Transport Cost field displays the summarized transport costs calculated from price codes attached directly to the means of conveyance, for the currency given by project default ZX_CURCY. If the Diff check box is selected, you can double-click in this field to open a window showing the subtotals per currency involved in the transport costs attached to the MOC.

Click OK to close the window.

The currency of the transport costs is shown in the Currency field. This currency is the same as the current value of project default ZX_CURCY.

If the Diff check box is selected, the transport costs of this MOC include at least one price code the currency of which is different from the value of project default ZX_CURCY.

You can click the Attributes button to open the A.50.21 Attached Attributes screen where you can attach attributes / attribute sets to the selected means of conveyance. For more information, see Attached Attributes.

You can click the Attachments button to open the D.90.21 Attachments screen where documents can be attached to the MOC. For more information, see Attachments.
