Edit > Change Geometry Type modifies the geometry type of an existing plate system, profile system, or design seam. Use this command when, for example, you want to change a profile system by 2D projection to a stiffener profile system by table.

Plate Systems

Select one of the following options: Planar Plate System, Ruled Plate System, Linear Plate System, Non-Linear Plate System, or Revolved Plate System.

  • Plates systems can be difficult to change because the software modifies a surface. Some geometry types are not compatible with other geometry types. You cannot change a non-linear extruded plate system to a planar plate system, for example.

  • Imported Plate System displays in the list if the plate system you are converting is an imported plate system.

Profile Systems

You will have greater success changing geometry types of profile systems and seams, because the software modifies a curve instead of a surface.

Select one of the following options: Profile by Projection, Profile by Intersection, Profile by Offset, Profile by Table, or Switch Between 2D and 3D Curve.

Switch Between 2D and 3D Curve

Activates the curve creation method options on the Stiffener Profile System by Projection ribbon. You can then toggle between Define using 2D Sketcher and Landing Curve Definition by 3D . This option is only available for a profile by projection.
