This feature accelerates the import and export of large files using a third-party application called FileCatalyst in the Large File Transfer section. It exports large files faster than the Import & Export section.

FileCatalyst is a software platform integrated in the Cloud portal to accelerate and manage file transfers securely and reliably. The core transport technology used is based on the UDP protocol. It is immune to the effects of latency and packet loss that can impact traditional file transfer methods. FileCatalyst breaks data into blocks and starts transmitting immediately and remains constant, regardless of the data transmission and network latency.

What are the pre-requisites for using Large File Transfer section?

  • Open the following ports to communicate with the endpoint https://filecatalyst.intergraphsmartcloud.com:

    443 for TCP

    This port is secured over SSL and is used as the communication channel to display files and folders in the portal.

    8000 - 8999 for TCP and UDP

    These ports are used to transfer the data during the upload and download of files.

  • Install the FileCatalyst TransferAgent client software on all end user devices.

What are the advantages of using the Large File Transfer section?

  • You can upload files larger than 200 MB in size as the Import & Export section can only upload files up to 200 MB.

  • Uploading or downloading files is faster than with the Import & Export section.

  • The delivery of each transferred file is verified byte by byte using an MD5 checksum.

  • The file transfer is secured, as all communications are sent over a secure SSL channel using AES encryption.

  • File transfer continues uninterrupted in the background, even if you close the portal window.
