When you open a screen that is assigned to another than the currently used license module, the actual seat is surrendered. The same applies when a user logs off the application.

If the application crashes, or is forcibly closed (for example, using the task manager), the surrender of the seat is left to the clean-up job.

If returning fails during license change or exiting the application, the user should not be blocked from continuing the work, therefore the return of not-yet-returned seats is left to the clean-up job.

In Smart Materials Classic, the user exits the application gracefully using the Log Off button shown in the main menu. The occupied seat is given back to license machine. Same will happen if the user closes the application using File > Exit from the menu.

If the user interface is closed using the window close (white ‘X’ with red background in our hardcopy), this is a forced application abort. Same, as if the user terminates the application, closing the related browser window. The orphan seats will be returned by the clean-up job then.
