  • You must perform this database upgrade from version 12.2.0.1 (example) to 18.6.0.0 before you can do the Smart Materials upgrade to version 10.0.0. If your database is on version 18.6.0.0, you can skip this section.

  • Make sure that Oracle services and database are running before upgrading to version 18.6.0.0.

  1. Run Database Upgrade Assistant (under Oracle-OraDB18Home1) as administrator.

  2. Select Upgrade Oracle Database, choose your database, enter your credentials, and click Next.

  3. Click Fix & Check Again.

  4. Ignore the Invalid objects exist validation message and click Next.

  5. Click Yes to continue.

  6. Click Next on the Upgrade Options dialog.

  7. Choose your backup solution and click Next.

  8. Optionally, select Create a new listener and enter the listener name.

  9. Click Next.

  10. Clear Configure Enterprise Manager (EM) database express and click Next.

  11. Click Finish.

  12. The upgrade progress is shown. If the upgrade is complete, click Upgrade Results to view the results.

  13. Click Close.

  14. Copy the sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora files from the %12c_Oracle_Database_Home1%\network\admin folder to the new %18c_Oracle_Database_Home1%\network\admin folder.

If a new listener was created during the database upgrade, the old listener (pointing to 18.1 DB home) stops and the new listener is running.
