For successful upgrade, you need the Oracle 18c (18.6.0) x64 import and export tool programs, and the loadjava utility installed on your client computer (or on the computer you use to perform the upgrade).
-
If you have multiple Oracle installations on your computer, ensure that only one impdp.exe and expdp.exe exist. Rename all other impdp.exe and expdp.exe to make sure that the correct import/export tool is used for the upgrade.
-
Perform the expdp and impdp to test both tools, because the Smart Materials upgrade procedure uses them.
-
Additionally, the Oracle Java Virtual Machine (JServer JVM) needs to be correctly installed on the database server.
-
You must have access to the database SYS account.
-
The database COMPATIBLE parameter (init.ora) must be set to 18.6.0.
-
The database memory_target (init.ora) size must be 500 MB or more.
The instance initialization parameter O7_DICTIONARY_ACCESSIBILITY (init.ora) known from previous version is no longer supported.
-
The instance initialization parameter OPEN_CURSORS (init.ora) must be 1300 or greater.
-
The following Smart Materials tablespaces must have sufficient free space:
MARIAN: 4000 MB free
M_INDEX: 4000 MB free
M_TEMP: 2400 MB free -
The Smart Materials application schema user M_SYS must not be currently connected to the database.
-
No database logon/logoff triggers (other than the RDBMS standard ones) that could possibly interfere with the Smart Materials installation must exist in the database.
-
If you currently have installed a version smaller than 8.0.0, you must first upgrade to version 8.0.0 before you can upgrade to version 2020 (10.0.0).
