Sets parameters for a new material database.

Type

Specify whether the new database is to be a catalog or a specification. Available options are Specification, Catalog, and Spoolgen default. Selecting Spoolgen default results in a new database that contains items commonly used by Intergraph Spoolgen, such as welds and pipe supports.

Standard

Defines to which standard components will conform. ANSI and DIN are delivered with the software. If needed, you can use the Type box to specify another standard. After you click OK, the standard name, along with the units of measure values that you entered, are saved. The next time you open the New dialog box, the standard name displays in the Type list. When you select a standard from the list, the software displays the appropriate units of measure values.

Default Bore

Defines the bore unit of measure as either imperial (in) or metric (mm). If you enter a bore without expressing the units, the software automatically assigns the default bore unit defined in the New dialog box. Bore units are stored for each material in the material database. The database can include materials with bores expressed in imperial or metric units.

Length

Defines the length unit of measure as either imperial (in) or metric (mm). Unlike other units of measure values, Length is stored on the local machine and not in the Information table. The length unit of measure is always displayed in the preferred local units, imperial in the United States and metric in Europe, regardless of the locality in which the database is created. You can use only one unit of measure per database. If you specify other units in the Material Builder, the software converts them to the units specified in the New dialog box.

Weight

Defines the weight unit of measure as either imperial (lb) or metric (kg). You can use only one unit of measure per database. If you specify other units of measure in the Material Builder, the software converts them to the units specified in the New dialog box.

Bolt Length

Defines the bolt length unit of measure as either imperial (in) or metric (mm). You can use only one unit of measure per database. If you specify other units of measure in the Material Builder, the software converts them to the units specified in the New dialog box.

Bolt Diameter

Defines the bolt diameter unit of measure as either imperial (in) or metric (mm). You can use only one unit of measure per database. If you specify other units of measure in the Material Builder, the software converts them to the units specified in the New dialog box.
