The Catalog Builder allows you to merge multiple existing specifications to create a new catalog or to append material data to an existing catalog.

  1. Click Tools > Catalog Builder to open the Catalog Builder.

  2. Click Add Specifications, navigate to the materials database (.mdb) file to include in the new catalog, and then click Open.

  3. Repeat the previous step as many times as necessary until you have finished building up the list of specifications.

The software displays the selected specifications in the Specifications to merge list.

    • Alternatively, you can type the name of the specification and its full path location directly in the Specification and Folder grid boxes.

    • If you add the same .mdb file multiple times, the software processes it only once.

    • If you add a .mdb file that does not exist, the software skips it during the catalog generation process.

  4. Specify the catalog file. Click Browse and navigate to an existing catalog file, or type the name of the file directly into the Catalog box.

    • If you do not specify a path in the Catalog box, the software saves the new catalog to the Material Editor folder in the currently selected project.

    • If you specify an existing catalog file, the software appends the material data to the material data already present in the catalog.

    • If you are appending material data to an existing catalog file, confirm that the catalog file is closed.

  5. Click Generate Catalog.

The software displays the Catalog Settings dialog box.

  6. Review the settings that exist in the specifications to merge (Values found in specifications). If needed, specify the basic settings (Standard, Default bore, Weight, Bolt length, and Bolt diameter units), that should exist for the new catalog.

  7. Click Continue.

If you click Cancel, the software terminates the catalog generation process.

After the merge is complete, the software displays a message. To open the new catalog, click Yes.
