The ambient light is the light that surrounds everything and does not appear to come from a single source in the display. The brightness setting determines the exposure of light on the model, which changes the intensity of the image's colors.

  1. Select View > Settings > View, and then click the Lighting tab.

    You also can set the lighting intensity by clicking View > Display > Lighting.

  2. Move the Ambient from 0 to 100 slider to change the ambient lighting level, and then click Apply to see your changes on the Main view. The default Ambient setting is 29.

    A high ambient light level creates lighter shadows, while a low ambient light level creates darker shadows. The above example shows a higher light level.

  3. Move the Brightness from 0 to 10 slider to change the brightness level, and then click Apply to see your changes on the Main view. The default Brightness setting is 1.

    For darker object colors, select a low brightness (exposure) setting. For brighter colors, select a high brightness as shown in the example.
