This option allows you to create a link that enables the import of various select list items. The software also allows you to define a dependency when a select list depends on another select list, for example, Model and Manufacturer.

Select File > New > Select List Link .

In the Select List Link Wizard, on the Define the Select List Link Name page, under Link, type the link name.

Under Description, type a brief description of the link if needed.

Select Next.

On the Source and Target Definition page, from the Source table list, select a source table.

Select Use query and then select the query you require from the list. Select New query if you need to define a new query.

Select Data Source to preview and edit the contents of the source table or the tables defined in the selected query. You cannot edit the data if you are previewing tables defined in a query.

Select Filter to define a filter condition if you want to include only specific source items from the selected table or the tables defined in the selected query. You can use the following wildcard characters in your filter: % - any combination of characters. _ (underscore) - any single character

Under Target, from the Target select list, select the required value. Select View Data to preview the contents of the selected target select list.

Select Next.

On the Map the Source Fields and Target Select List Properties page, select a source field from the Source pane and drag it to a Source Field box next to a Value property in the Target pane.

If the target select list is dependent on a parent select list (for example, Model and Manufacturer), map the appropriate source field that defines the parent source value with the target parent list property.

You can also drag a source field to Source Field box next to a Short Value property if you want to import a short value. However, only the data appearing next to the Value properties will appear in the select lists of the target database.

You can select Data Source and View Data to preview the contents of the source and target tables.

Select Expand to view the page in full screen mode. Select Expand again, to continue and return the page to normal-size mode. You can only continue to the next page when the page is in normal-size mode.

You can only import a select list which contains at least one user-defined entry.

Select Next.

On the Completing the Select List Link Wizard page, select View to examine the select list link summary information.

Select Finish to create the link.
