While working with a point cloud, you can limit your view of the point cloud to a specific portion by specific hiding points. Hidden points are not deleted from the ModelSpace view or database.

Defining the points to be displayed or hidden can be done using the commands listed below. These commands also reduce the size and complexity of point clouds for viewing and processing. Use Clipping Manager to toggle or delete defined clippings in CloudWorx. For more information, see Clipping Manager.

  • Limit Box - Represents a 3D rectangular box beyond which points are not displayed or processed. For more information, see Limit Box.

  • Section View - Allows you to define a 3D plane, and then hide the points on one side of that plane to see an exposed cross-section view of the point cloud. For more information, see Section View.

  • Slice - Allows you to define two parallel 3D planes, and then hide the points outside the zone between the two planes to see a controlled, cross-section view of the point cloud. For more information, see Slice. You can move the current slice one step (equal to the width of the slice) forward or backward along its axis using Slice Forward and Slice Backward. For more information, see Slice Forward and Slice Backward.

  • Fence - Allows you to hide or show points within a user-defined fence. Fence operations are independent of other functions that hide point clouds. A fence can be in the shape of a circle, rectangle, or polygon. For more information, see Fence.
