Once you have created a markup layer, there are a number of ways in which you can annotate the active file. SmartPlant Markup Plus allows you to store and place standard, defined symbols; draw on the file using standard drawing tools; add text, audio, or video annotations to the file; and arrange elements in the markup layer.
Symbols
While SmartPlant Markup Plus comes with a standard symbol library file, which contains a limited number of symbols that you can use, the software also comes with the ability to create your own custom symbols. The capability is provided in the Create Symbol command. Once you have defined all the symbols you need, you can place standard or custom symbols with the Place Symbol command.
Drawing Tools
Several drawing commands are available from Markup > Draw or the Markup Elements toolbar. These tools allow you to draw circles, rectangles, and other shapes; add text; draw lines, arcs, and leaders; or even draw with the mouse in the freehand mode.
Annotation Tools
In addition to the text that you can add with the Text drawing tool, you can also add annotations made up of text, sounds, or video clips. These annotations are noted on the file with a standard icon. When this icon is double-clicked, the software displays the text or the video clip, or plays the audio file.
Arrangement Tools
Several commands are available from the Markup menu to allow you to group, ungroup, and arrange the order of element(s) for display.
