Displays the system and user-specified attributes that are currently available. The settings on the Attributes tab are related to the attributes that are available in the application that you selected on the Project Defaults tab. For example, you can control whether an attribute is visible or editable in the associated application, or specify a display name and set a default value. To modify any of the settings, double-click the row that contains the attribute to open the Attribute dialog box.

Context

Specifies the attribute group. The attribute group that you select determines which attributes display on the Attribute tab. Select one of the following groups: Pipeline, Component, Weld, Bolt, Spool, GasketSpecific, FlangeSpecific, SupportSpecific, PipeSpecific, SpindleSpecific, InstrumentWindowSpecific, InsturmentDialSpecific, OrificeSpecific, FlatDirectionSpecific, SlipPlateSpecific, Additional-Item, SupportWeldSpecific, PulledBendSpecific, Thickness-Measurement-Location, and Material.

For more information about the individual attributes that belong to each attribute group, see Appendix: Attribute Groupings.

Display Name

Shows the attribute name that displays in the associated application.

Default Value

Displays the value, if any is set, that the application uses if no other value is defined within the associated application.

Allowable Values

Displays the values that you may assign to the attribute within the application. The example below shows the allowable values for the Revision property in the Smart Isometrics Properties window.

Isogen Att

Displays the Isogen attribute that the application uses.

Source

Indicates whether the attribute is a System or ProjectModified attribute. A ProjectModified attribute is one that has been modified by the user in the current project.

Set Value

Indicates how the default value is set.

  • Isogen suppresses definition of a default value. The attribute cannot be modified.

  • Isogen then Default indicates that the application uses the value defined in the Isogen input file. If no value is set, the application uses the Default Value setting.

  • Default indicates that the application sets the value to what is defined by the Default Value setting.

Units

Displays the type of units allowed for the attribute, such as inches or kilograms. This setting is applicable only for attributes that contain a measurement or weight.

Visible

Indicates whether the attribute displays within the application. If you can view the attribute within the associated application, Visible displays as True. Conversely, a False setting indicates that the attribute is hidden in the application.

The following example shows the Pipeline attributes for a Smart Isometrics project. In the example, Visible is set to False for the MiscSpec1 attribute.

Consequently, MiscSpec1 is not included in the list of pipeline attributes that display for the selected pipeline in the Smart Isometrics Properties window.

To quickly toggle the Visible property, right-click the attribute, and then select Toggle Visible on the shortcut menu. For multiple attributes, use SHIFT + Left-click to select multiple adjacent rows, and then right-click to display the shortcut menu.

Editable

Indicates whether you can modify the attribute within the application. If you can modify the attribute, Visible displays as True. Conversely, a False setting indicates that the attribute cannot be modified.

The following example shows the Pipeline attributes for a Smart Isometrics project. In the example, Editable is set to False for the MiscSpec4 and MiscSpec5 attributes.

Consequently, MiscSpec4 and MiscSpec5 are both grayed out (meaning they are not available for editing) in the list of pipeline attributes that display for the selected pipeline in the Smart Isometrics Properties window.

To quickly toggle the Editable property, right-click the attribute, and then select Toggle Editable on the shortcut menu. For multiple attributes, use SHIFT + Click to select multiple adjacent rows, and then right-click to display the shortcut menu.

Expression

Indicates whether the attribute contains an expression. For more information about attribute expressions, see Attribute Expressions in Project Defaults and Attributes.

Build

Opens the Build Expression Dialog Box so you can use the Expression Builder to create and test the attribute expression. This option is available only when Evaluate expression is selected.

You can type an attribute expression directly in the Default value box instead of using the Expression Builder.

Import

Allows you to import attribute data from an external source.
