Common attributes

The following attributes are common for most welds:

Fly Text

Displays a summary of the properties of the object currently selected. This information is read-only and cannot be modified. An example is shown below.

6" WW Weld Number 21

UID

Specifies a unique identifier for the weld. This information is read-only and cannot be modified.

External UCI

Displays the system-generated unique identifier. This information is read-only and cannot be modified.

External Index

Displays a unique number that is used by Isogen to distinguish welds that have identical external UCIs. This information is read-only and cannot be modified.

Weld Type

Displays the symbol key (SKEY) for the weld.

Weld-specific attributes

Any of the attributes listed below may display in the Properties window when you select a weld in the Pipeline Explorer or Graphics window.

The weld attributes that display in the Properties window and the ability to edit those attributes is controlled by I-Configure. For more information, see Project Defaults and Attributes in the I-Configure Help.

Category

Specifies where the weld is assembled along with other pipeline objects to form a spool or pipeline. Select None, Erection, Fabrication, or Offshore.

  • Erection defines the weld to be placed or constructed in the field. An erection weld also creates a spool break.

  • Fabrication defines the weld to be fabricated in a workshop.

  • Offshore defines the weld to be placed or constructed in the field as part of an offshore operation.

Cost Factor

Specifies an explicitly defined value that Isogen uses to calculate weld diameter totals.

Insulation

Indicates whether the weld is insulated. If you select Yes, the isometric drawing displays a single dotted line to indicate that the weld is insulated. If you select No, the weld is not insulated.

Insulation Spec

Specifies the default insulation specification reference.

Item Description

Specifies a description for the weld. Overrides the material description assigned from the specification. This attribute allows welds with the same item code to have different material descriptions.

Jacket

Indicates whether the weld is part of a jacketed system.

Material List

Indicates how Isogen outputs the weld in the material list on the isometric drawing.

  • Include outputs the weld item code to the material list only.

  • Exclude suppresses the weld item code from the PCF and the material list.

  • Include with Iso shows the item code local to the weld on the isometric drawing and in the material list on the isometric drawing.

Misc Spec 1-5

Provides for up to five user-specified miscellaneous specification reference.

Name or Tag

Specifies a name or other identifier that identifies the weld.

Pipe Spec

Specifies the default piping (primary) specification reference.

Plant

Specifies an identifier for the area. Typically, this property is specified for a weld when it is used in conjunction with the Waste property.

Status

Specifies the appearance of the weld (solid or dotted) in the Isogen-generated drawing and indicates whether the weld is dimensioned. Select one of the following options:

  • Standard applies no special status of any kind. Welds with a Standard status are fully dimensioned on the plotted isometric drawing and are included in the material list.

  • Dotted Undimensioned draws welds as dotted. The weld is un-dimensioned on the plotted isometric drawing but is still included on the material list.

  • Dotted Dimensioned draws welds as dotted. A component with a Dotted Dimensioned status is fully dimensioned on the plotted isometric drawing. However, a dotted dimensioned weld is not included in the material list.

  • Undimensioned applies only to supports. The support is un-dimensioned on the plotted isometric drawing but is still included in the material list.

Suppress Item Code

Specifies whether the weld displays in the material list. If you select False, the software displays the weld in the list. If you select True, the item code is suppressed and does not display in the list.

Thickness/Rating

Specifies the thickness of the weld.

Tracing

Indicates whether the weld is traced. Select from the following:

  • Off shows no tracing.

  • On uses a dot/dash line to show welds traced.

  • Single uses one dot/dash line to show welds traced.

  • Double uses two dot/dash format lines to show welds traced.

  • Treble uses three dot/dash format lines to show welds traced.

  • Quadruple uses four dot/dash format lines to show welds traced.

Tracing Spec

Specifies the default tracing specification reference.

UCI

Displays the software-generated unique identifier. This information is read-only and cannot be modified.

Weld Attribute 1-100

Provides for up to 100 user-specified general purpose attributes for the selected weld. User-specified weld attributes can be output to the BOM on the isometric drawing or can be output next to the component.

Weld gap

Specifies a value for the weld gap, if needed. Welded fittings, such as butt weld elbows, do not have actual welds (explicit welds) in the IDF/PCF The software creates implicit welds on import. The weld gap on implicit welds is set to 0 (zero). The weld gap on explicit welds retains the setting from the IDF/PCF.

  • If you add or change a weld after import, the weld gap is set to the value defined in the material database.

  • When a drawing is generated, the software uses the Weld gap value for cut piece calculations. If the weld gap value is 0 (zero), the software uses the setting in the weld gap table for cut piece calculations.

Weld Number

Specifies a weld number for Isogen to use instead of the number generated automatically by the system. Spoolgen has a weld numbering tool that enables you to use a user-specified weld numbering system in the pipeline.

Weld Remark Number

Specifies the ID number that identifies the remark associated with the weld.

Weld Spec

Specifies the default weld specification reference.

Weld Type

Specifies a text identifier on the weld. This attribute is distinct from the weld SKEY or implied from the end type.
