This procedure shows you how to create an association link. This link enables you to import values that define various associations among items that exist in the source database.

Select File > New > Association Link .

In the Association Link Wizard, on the Define the Link Name and Description page, under Link, type the link name.

Under Description, type a brief description of the link if needed.

Select Next.

On the Define the Association Source page, do one of the following:

From the Source table list, select a source table.

Select Use query and then select the query you require from the list. Select New query if you need to define a new query.

Select Data Source to preview and edit the contents of the source table or the tables defined in the selected query. You cannot edit the data if you are previewing tables defined in a query.

Select Filter to define a filter condition if you want to include only specific source items from the selected table or the tables defined in the selected query. You can use the following wildcard characters in your filter: % - any combination of characters. _ (underscore) - any single character

Select Next.

On the Define the Association page, in the Target group box, select the required item type from the Parent item type list. Select Data Source to preview the contents of the selected list.

Under Parent item type, select in the Item Type Property box and select a target item type property from the list.

From the Source pane, select a source field and drag it to a parent Source Field under Parent item type in the Target group box.

Select Add to add a new row to define another parent item type property. Select Delete to delete a definition row from the parent item type property list.

Select Expand to view the page in full screen mode. Select Expand again, to continue and return the page to normal-size mode. You can only continue to the next page when the page is in normal-size mode.

From the Child item type list, select a child item type.

Under Child item type, select in the Item Type Property box and select a target item type property from the list.

From the Source list, select a source field and drag it to a child Source Field under Child item type in the Target group box.

Select Add to add a new row to define another child item type property. Select Delete to delete a definition row from the child item type property list.

Select Next.

On the Completing the Association Link Wizard page, select View to examine the association link summary information.

Select Finish to create the link.
The software also allows you to create association links to associate between the following item types:

Associate cables with cableway segments.
-
Associate plant circuits with reference circuits provided that the plant circuit is not connected to a load.
Note that it is not possible to associate a load with a reference circuit using Import Manager.
