  • The point cloud referencing process might differ based on the CloudWorx version that you use.

  • If you have the latest version of Smart 3D with an updated version of CloudWorx, the Server Name and Point Cloud fields are active. The software requires the Server Name to register the JetStream and Cyclone enterprise point cloud models.

  • If you have the latest version of Smart 3D with an older version of CloudWorx, the Server Name and Point Cloud fields are inactive. The Point Cloud list displays Leica Geosystems Inc.

  • There might be situations where in you uninstall the latest version of Smart 3D and install the earlier versions of it, then you might need to re-register the point cloud model to set the project.

Load the point cloud software on your computer before referencing it from Project Management.

  1. Select the model node in the Project Management tree.

  2. Click Database > New > Point Cloud Model Reference to open the Point Cloud Model Reference Dialog.

  3. Select the point cloud to use, and then click Register.

    • To select a point cloud dataset for server interference, click the corresponding Server Interference row for that point cloud dataset.

    • You can run the remote server interference process only with one point cloud dataset at a time.

    • The software considers only registered point cloud datasets for server interference. By default, the software selects one point cloud dataset for server interference.

  4. In the Point Cloud Model Properties Dialog, select the point cloud model type from the Point Cloud list.

  5. Click Browse Browse ... ICON to select a point cloud vendor source file for Point Cloud Source. For JetStream and Cyclone enterprise model types, you must specify the server name in the Server Name box before specifying the respective point cloud sources.

Based on the point cloud model type selection, the appropriate point cloud specific dialog box displays.

  6. Select model space view, jetstream, or cyclone enterprise point cloud source based on the point cloud model type selected, and click OK.

  7. Click OK.

  • You can register only one dataset of a vendor at a time.

  • You can see the status of the vendor as Registered under the Status column in the Point Cloud Model Reference dialog box. The options Register and Unregister change dynamically based on the vendor status.

  • When defining the workspace, the point cloud displays on the New Filter Properties dialog box on both the Point Cloud tab and Object Type tab. When the point cloud is defined, it displays in Smart 3D on the Workspace Explorer view. Vendor-specific commands display on the Accessories menu.
