Purpose

This section explains how to define the BOM setup when starting a new project in Smart Materials.

Exercise

  1. Open the B.10.02 List Status screen from the menu branch Smart Materials > E&PI (BOM) > B.10 Administration.

  2. Enter the new list status name ’00-DEF’ in the List Status field and the description ‘Default’ in the Short Desc and Description fields.

    Select the Delete and Overwrite indicators.

    The Lock check box must not be selected.

    Create the other list statuses as displayed in the picture below.

  3. Click the Save button to save the new list statuses.

  4. Close the screen by selecting File > Close All or Close from the main menu.

  5. Open A.20.12 Project Defaults, select the project default ZB_LST_ID on the E+PI (BOM) tab, and assign the list status 00-DEF, using the LOV in the Value field.

  6. Click the Save button to save the changes and close the screen.

  7. Open the B.10.08 Issue Status screen from the menu branch Smart Materials > E&PI (BOM) > B.10 Administration.

  8. Enter the sequence number '10' in the Seq field, the new issue status name ’01’ in the Issue Status field, and the description ‘1st MTO’ in the Short Desc and Description fields.

  9. Click the Save button to save the new issue status.

    In the same way, create the other issue statuses as displayed in the picture below.

  10. Close the screen by selecting File > Close All or Close from the main menu.

  11. Open A.20.12 Project Defaults, select the project default ZB_STAT_ID on the E+PI (BOM) tab, and assign the issue status ESTIMATE, using the LOV in the Value field.

  12. Click the Save button to save the changes and close the screen.

  13. Open the B.10.03 Node Types and Settings screen from the menu branch Smart Materials > E&PI (BOM) > B.10 Administration.

  14. Enter the node type ‘DISC’ in the Name field and the description ‘Discipline’ in the Short Desc and Description fields. Click the List of Values button to open the LOV in the Description Rule field. Select $Type from the list, and click OK. Enter a colon (:) after that. Then click the List of Values button again, select $Name, and click OK.

  15. In the same way, create the other node types as displayed in the picture below.

  16. Click the Save button to save the new node types.

  17. Select the node type SHEET, click into the Order Seq field on the Assigned Attributes tab, and insert 1.

    Move to the Attribute field, and click the List of Values button to open the LOV. Select SHEET from the list, and click OK.

    Click into the Order Seq field of the second record, and insert 2.

    Move to the Attribute field, and click the List of Values button to open the LOV. Select SHOP from the list, and click OK. You have assigned two attributes to node type SHEET.

  18. Click the Save button to save the changes.

  19. Close the screen by selecting File > Close All or Close from the main menu.

  20. Open the B.10.07 Node Type Hierarchy screen from the menu branch Smart Materials > E&PI (BOM) > B.10 Administration.

  21. Click the List of Values button to open the LOV. Select DISC from the list, and click OK. Don’t enter anything in the Parent Node Type field.

  22. Click the Save button to save the changes.

  23. Click into the Node Type field of the second record, click the List of Values button, select UNIT from the list, and click OK. Click into the Parent Node Type field, and click the List of Values button to open the LOV. Select DISC from the list, and click OK. You have defined DISC as a parent of UNIT.

  24. Click the Save button to save the changes.

  25. Proceed in the same way with the node types LINE and SHEET as displayed in the picture below.

  26. Close the screen by selecting File > Close All or Close from the main menu.

  27. Open the B.10.04 Position Attributes screen from the menu branch Smart Materials > E&PI (BOM) > B.10 Administration.

  28. Click the Enter Query button, and enter ‘PIPING’ in the Name field, or open the LOV using the List of Values button and select PIPING from the list. Then, click the Run Query button to query the selected discipline.

  29. Click into the Order Seq field of the second (Assigned Attributes) block, and insert 1.

    Move to the Name field, and click the List of Values button to open the LOV. Select SF from the list, and click OK.

    Clear the Mandatory indicator.

    Proceed in the same way with the attributes INS-TYPE and COMPONENTTYPE as displayed in the picture below.

  30. Click the Save button to save the changes.

  31. Close the screen by selecting File > Close All or Close from the main menu.

  32. Open the B.10.09 Discipline BOM Views screen from the menu branch Smart Materials > E&PI (BOM) > B.10 Administration.

  33. Click the Enter Query button, and enter ‘PIPING’ in the Discipline Code field. Click the Run Query button to query the selected discipline.

    Click into the Order Seq field of the second (Attributes for Discipline BOM Views) block, and insert 1.

    Move to the Attribute field, and click the List of Values button to open the LOV. Select SHEET from the list, and click OK.

    Proceed in the same way with the attributes SHOP, CG_GROUP_CODE, PART_CODE, COMMODITY_CODE, and IDENT_CODE as displayed in the picture below.

  34. Click the Save button to save the changes.

  35. Close the screen by selecting File > Close All or Close from the main menu.
