If your company is having trouble with webcam images, here are some things you can try to make them better.

Problem: Link appears broken, or the image is not the one you wanted

If the link appears broken or the image you see is not what you expected, double-check the URL. Smart Build Insight does not check whether the links work or go to the right image or stream.

Problem: Only part of a static image appears

If you see only the top left portion of the static image, it means the image dimensions are too large to display in Smart Build Insight. To see the full image, edit the webcam URL:

  1. Click Home .

  2. At the bottom of the window, click Expand on the Home panel.

  3. On the Project Webcam widget, click Options > Edit.

  4. Append the width and height parameters to the static image URL. For example:

    http://webcampub.multivista.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=aPublicWebcam.embed
    &WebcamPublicEmbedUID=12345BF6-5D67-3C41-C612-5E8D3B8C1B87&width=350&height=300

Be sure to specify values that will result in an image that:

    • Is the same aspect ratio as the original image - otherwise the image may appear skewed.

    • Is not larger than the width and height of a typical user's device screen - otherwise you might still see only part of the image.

For the image to appear on the widget, the link must go to a Multivista iFrame or OxBlue system.

Problem: Webcam livestream will not load

If it takes a long time to load your livestream, or it won’t load at all, the images may be updating faster than your network or internet connection can handle.

You can make images load faster in Smart Build Insight by settign the refresh rate to one minute or higher. To do that, use Multivista to change the setting for the feed. For more information, see Embedding Webcam Feeds at Multivista Support.
