SMC - File Upload Security

The following security settings are available.

  • Allow File Types List - Here you can enter specific file extension or MIME types you want to allow for upload as a comma-separated list. These are in addition to the default allowed types. This field is blank by default.

The following are the default allowed types:

    • General: "pdf", "rtf", "txt", "zip", "gz", "csv",

    • Word formats: "doc", "docx", "docm", "dotx", "dotm", "docb"

    • Excel formats: "xls", "xlt", "xlsx", "xlsm", "xltx", "xltm", "xlsb"

    • Powerpoint formats: "ppt", "pot", "pps", "pptx", "pptm", "potx", "potm", "ppsx", "ppsm", "sldx", "sldm"

    • OpenOffice formats: "ods", "odt"

    • Image formats: "bmp", "gif", "ico", "jpeg", "jpg", "png"

  • Deny File Types List - Here you can enter specific file extension or MIME types you want to prevent from being uploaded as a comma-separated list. This can include files in the default Allow File Types List but can also include file types or MIME types not on the list. This field is blank by default.

If a file or MIME type exists in both the Allow File Types List and the Deny File Types List, the file or MIME type will be denied.

Any file extension or MIME type not on the Allow File Types List is denied by default.

  • File Upload Virus Scanner - Select the virus scanner that should be used when files are uploaded. The default is None (the virus scanner is disabled). You can select MetaDefender to enable the virus scanning.

MetaDefender is the only virus scanner supported by j5.

The following configuration points appear when MetaDefender is selected:

  • Meta Defender API Key: This is provided by MetaDefender.

  • Meta Defender url: The URL of the MetaDefender service endpoint.

  • Polling delay: The delay (in seconds) between queries on the status of a file.

  • Polling number: The number of attempts allowed to query the status of a file.
