Internet throughput recommendations
For optimal performance, we recommend:
-
For the j5 server:
-
At least a 100Mb/s connection. However, this depends largely on the number of users accessing the server.
-
The connection should be faster than 100Mb/s if there are many users accessing the j5 server at the same time.
-
-
For clients connecting to the j5 server:
-
At least a 100Mb/s connection for each client accessing j5.
General consumer-level networking speeds should be adequate.
-
-
For j5 Mobile:
-
At least a 100Mb/s connection for the Wi-Fi device that j5 Mobile devices connect to during synchronization.
-
A faster connection is recommended if you often have multiple mobile devices syncing a large number of attachments over a single Wi-Fi access point.
-
Internet latency recommendations
This indicates the time between each request and response.
We recommend the following setup for low latency:
|
Installation type |
Recommendation |
|---|---|
|
On-premises |
When the j5 application server and database are located in the same location as the users, network latency is usually negligible. To achieve low latency between the j5 application server and database server, we recommend that they are in the same data center or in close proximity to each other. |
|
Private cloud environments |
Use the cloud data center nearest to the users. |
Some network routing rules may cause undue latency, so the server location should
be considered when setting up network routing to minimize overall latency.
